Description
A valve cap is the last barrier between the core and everything the road throws at it, and on a TPMS wheel the wrong cap causes more trouble than no cap. This Schrader 20695 is green plastic with an O-ring seal, and plastic is the point: a metal cap on an aluminum TPMS stem sets up galvanic corrosion that seizes the two together, and freeing it usually means replacing the stem. Schrader specifies new grommets, nuts, caps and valve cores every time a tire comes off the wheel. A compressed grommet will not seal a second time, and a reused core is the most common cause of a slow leak that gets blamed on the sensor.
