Description
The OKU AS-9 is a hand-held automatic stud gun built for setting single-flange studs in car tires. It runs on shop air and sets each stud with a press of the trigger, so studding a full set of tires goes quickly.
This is the AS-9 for 8mm and 9mm diameter studs from 11mm in length. It works at about 7 to 8 bar (roughly 100 to 116 PSI) with a 10 bar (145 PSI) maximum, and measures about 220 x 60 x 185mm at around 1.5 kg (3.3 lb) without accessories.
Without a feeder, load about 10 studs into the feed pipe, flange first, or connect the stud feeding hose from a feeder unit. Moisten the tire with water and a few drops of dish soap, using as little as possible. Dial in seating depth with air pressure: lower it if studs go in too deep and raise it if they stick out.
Oil the trigger quarterly, grease the piston surface yearly and spray the head regularly with anticorrosive oil, since the job uses water. Use it in a dry shop between 50 and 104°F (10 to 40°C), and wear ear protection because it runs up to 83 dB(A). The 4048 Feeder Boy is designed for the AS-9, and the 0381 and 0382 repair kits fit AS-9 style guns.
This listing includes one OKU AS-9 stud gun. Feeders and studs are sold separately.
