This #5 spline drive 1-1/2" thin wall deep socket is built for wheel work, slipping into recessed lug nut pockets where a standard impact socket is too thick to fit. Its 6 point hex grips the nut across a broad contact area, which cuts down on rounded corners and slipping.
The 5048DT measures 4.25 in overall with a 2.13 in outside diameter and 2.75 in of bolt clearance. Chrome-molybdenum alloy steel and a High Torque drive design work together here: pressure moves to the thicker part of the wall, so the socket takes up to 20% more torque than a standard hex impact socket.
